"Fort St. Louis"

Photographed on St. Martin in November of 2004. Fort St. Louis makes a striking profile on the French side of the Caribbean island of St. Martin. Once the Spanish, who had originally claimed the island, had left for good, French and Dutch settlers partitioned the island and fortified their territories respectively. St. Martin today has European, North American, and African-Caribbean features.
